A message from the KPMP Study regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

March 26, 2020

Thank you for your participation in the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP) study. We hope that you and your family and friends are staying healthy in light of the current pandemic. Ensuring the safety of the KPMP participants and study staff is our highest priority. We wanted to share with you some of the changes we are making right now.

In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, we have paused all in-person contact for KPMP. This includes in-person follow-up visits for our KPMP participants, and new enrollment and biopsies. We will resume in-person contact when it is safe to do so.  If you are due for a KPMP follow-up visit soon, your KPMP coordinator will reach out to you by phone to ask you a few questions. We will ask you to collect blood and urine later on when it is safe to do so. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility during this time.

We want to assure you that all of your KPMP information, including your biopsy, blood and urine samples and your data, are being kept safe and will be fully utilized by the study. To date, we have enrolled 40 participants in our study and have done 33 biopsies across all study sites. Many of the samples are in the process of being tested and we are learning from each sample. We are looking forward to continuing our study recruitment once it is safe to do so.

We are very appreciative of your long-term commitment to the KPMP study. During this period of uncertainty, please keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
